Under Construction Once Again

That's right.  This blog is under construction once again.

In the next few days, I'll be porting over all of my other blogs to this one.  I think it's time that I own the blogs that have been near and dear to my heart for the past few years.  It also gives me a chance to "drink my own Kool-Aid" and fess up to the less than stellar blogs that I have created (as well as to provide a home for all my web domains that I have purchased).

Hopefully, the transition will go smoothly.

What have I been doing?

Hey all,

Just a little update as to what in the world I have been doing for the last month.

My blogging schedule slowed down a bit due to work issues.  I have been helping with some grant writing projects as well as being assigned a new project geared toward bioinformatics.  It consumes a ton of time.  When I finally get home, I'm just drained and really don't want to touch a computer.

The weight loss plan continues to be a success.  Since January, I have lost 18 pounds!  I think I have really found what works for me with weight loss ... hit me in the pocketbook whenever I'm bad.

Really hoping that I can get on here to blog more.  My biggest goal is to combine my various sites into tabs here on this site to provide easy assess (and uniformity) to everything Jamie.

High Speed Rail: The Next Boom For The Service Industry?

High_speed_rail_corridors_map

I've heard a lot of buzz around the proposed "Next-Generation" Rail System in the US.  Under the proposed plan, ten regions in the US would get an extensive high speed rail network.  Many towns and cities across the proposed areas are lobbying their respective states in order to have this system go through their town.

I think that this is a good time for people in these areas to start thinking about the economic impact of a whole new form of income.  Learn from history and pick up a few books about the Transcontinental Railroad of the 1800's.  Think about how whole cities sprang up almost overnight to service these trains and their passengers.  For those of you lucky enough to live in a designated rail corridor area, how could your business profit from this?  A little careful study and thought could turn into big profits.

Most of these rail systems won't even be completed for 10 years.  You have plenty of time to think about this, but it's never too early to consider the options.

Product may overheat and SPRAY!

Is it wrong that I WANT this to happen?

TWIT Fans Rejoice!

If you love TWIT like I do, then you will be happy to learn that the feeds for all of the video releases of TWIT shows have been covertly uncovered.

Since their deal with MediaFly, TWIT has pretty much gone dark on the iTunes front (if you wanted video).  The ODTV folks who carried the bulk of the video for over a year stopped broadcasting the video feeds of the newly released TWIT videos (TWIT, MacBreak Weekly, This Week in Google, Windows Weekly, etc.).

Leo and the team kept insisting that video feeds would be available in iTunes "shortly" but it never seemed to happen.  Today, I was poking around the MediaFly site and noticed that the video versions  were released into the main MediaFly page, not just the specialized TWIT pages (those for Roku and Android).

If you want to add the videos back into iTunes, just click on "Advanced" in iTunes and "Subscribe to Podcast".  Then add the following feeds one by one (there are more at the MediaFly site, these are the three that I watch).

And PRESTO, TWIT videos are back in iTunes.  Now I can watch them at the gym on my iPod Touch again!
